Guilan province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran.It lies along the Caspian sea, just west of the province of Mazandaran, east of the province of Ardabil, north of the province of Zanjan and Qazvin.
The northern part of the province is part of territory of south (Iranian) Talesh.At the center of the province include Astara,Astaneh-e Ashrafiyeh,Fouman,Lahijan,Langroud,Masouleh,Manjil,Roudbar,
Roudsar,Shaft,Talesh and Somesara.
The main harbor part of the province is Bandar-e Anzali (previously Bandar-e Pahlavi).
Despite of the abundant humidity,Guilan is known for its moderate,
mild and Mediterranean-like climate.
Large parts of the province are mountainous, green and forested.
The coastal plain along the Caspian sea is similar to that of Mazandaran, mainly used for rice paddies.
The majority of the population speaks Gilaki as their first language while many children, particularly in the cities, tend to use standard Persian amongst themselves.
Guilan has some Azarbaijani-speaking people in Astara and Manjil.
The northern part of the province is inherited by Talesh people.
Guilan's position on Tehran-Baku trade route has established the cities of Bandar-e Anzali and Rasht as ranking amongst the most important commercial centers in Iran.As a result, the merchants and middle-classes include a significant percentage of the population.
The province has an annual average of 2 million tourists,mostly domestics.Although Iran's cultural heritage organization lists 211 sites of historical and cultural significance in the province,the main tourist attraction in Guilan is the small town of Masouleh in hills south-east of Rasht.
The most vicinities of Iran are found in northern part of Iran,and especially in Guilan province.
Coverage of green forests, various sources of water, local architecture and cultural specifications are eye-catching; forming a basis for the development of tourism.
Guilan province is one of the important places of tourism. It has lots of cultural, historical and natural attractions.
You can also go to different cities and villages of Guilan in a day to enjoy when you travel to Iran.

I described some cities and villages of this green province within a day of my trip on Fridays with my family. My green province has a lot of beautiful, virgin cities and villages that I couldn't write about them in one day traveling, but I wrote briefly about some cities and villages at first and I introduced them to tourists who are going to travel to this province. I hope this guide book is prefect for tourists and they enjoy the virgin and green resorts.
